PN: Current research?
Hi!
Is anyone following recent research on PN? I've checked, and although I've found lists of clinical trials, most are over or have closed due to a lack of funding. Yesterday's NYT had an interesting article about the high hopes placed on Crispr research. A dozen maladies were mentioned as possible beneficiaries in the coming years (and decades), but not PN. Have any of you read any recent promising research stories?

I haven't come across any recent promising research specifically on PN. It's unfortunate that funding issues are affecting progress in this area. Crispr's potential is indeed exciting!
Welcome @james393, I myself am not too excited for CRISPR but it may hold hope for some.

I did see this newer research reference on the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy site that sounds like CRISPR is involved - Newly Funded Research: A Novel miR-155 Therapy for the Treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy: https://www.foundationforpn.org/newly-funded-research-a-novel-mir-155-therapy-for-the-treatment-of-peripheral-neuropathy/
Have you been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy?
I have PN of the feet.Today my feet are on fire. I’ve stopped taking most supplements because of the cost. What do most people take for burning feet
When my feet burn, I use an ice pack. (Or put feet in cool water )Also, I’ve read where alcohol can exacerbate the burning. Usually when I go out to eat I have 1 drink. I’ve stopped. Can’t say I’ve found d a big difference. I also read gluten can worsen NP. Salt also…no chips, cold cuts, etc.
I’m trying everything. Figure it worth a try! Also trying to drink the recommended 8 8oz glasses of water a day
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid helped the burning in my feet and so did Low Dose Naltrexone
What dosages did you take
300 mg R-ALA twice daily and 3 mg LDN.
Is R-ALA just for diabetic PN
My PN is not diabetic
Do you get any side effects from the R-ALA
