I did the "vinegar soaks". You mix vinegar and water and use clean fabric. In my case I cut up an old turtleneck antd t shirt. I used strips of the t shirt soaked in the solution and wrung them out just so they didn't drip or run. Then wound the closely around my neck. After 20 to 30 minutes I took them off, I let the skin air dry a bit and applied either CeraVe or Aquaphor. The nurse gave me Vaseline gauze strips that came folded and I covered my neck with two of,those. Then covered the whole thing with wide strips of t shirt material and taped it to keep it in place. Mine healed quickly...about a week.

I used 1 part distilled white vinegar to 4 parts water. I used the t shirt and turtleneck fabric because they were well worn and didn't leave any lint behind. Once I had those in place I wrapped a bath towel around over the,top to keep them in place.
