Does this jump in PSA from 2 to 2.4 a cause for alarm. Had 20 proton beam treatments nearly four years ago and it dropped and remained steady at 2

hi res, you probably already know that PSA is higher in the morning. Time of draw could make this much of a difference. Lots of innocent things can raise PSA. It is important to remain vigilant, though. I'd want to repeat blood work early morning, after you've spent an asexual night sleeping, and haven't been bike riding, rough housing or otherwise knocking about and without any UTIs. I suspect your provider won't be concerned, and hope they are correct.

This is totally unscientific, but given the variability in test results, it's probably worth allowing at least a ±50% margin of error before taking a single PSA change too seriously.

Obviously, confim with your onco team.

Still getting treatment and go for testing once a month. Of all things they test the two I focus on are PSA and Testosterone. They have been holding steady at 0.02 psa and < 3 on testosterone. The results of these two show up in a day or two after testing. Not sure how I will handle this if the numbers go up, it will definitely get my attention. I can deal with the sometimes "off" day, telling myself I've been through off day before, it's okay. And I remember someone posting, they asked their doctor how long will the med work, She answered, until it doesn't and then they would switch to something else. This encourages me. Best to all.

rcs: I asked my radiation oncologist, post the 5 narrow margin linac radiation treatments, under what circumstances would a rising PSA suggest to you to do a psma pet scan? Her answer was a 2 point rise in PSA. I did not drill down further as for that moment, it was enough for me as a guideline.

If the PSA gets over 4.0 then Mayo says you qualify to see Dr. Cwon....the expert on this stuff per a telephone call.

If you are not 12, that is probably normal range! Congrats!

I had the surgery and the PSA for me hovered in the 0.04 for me and went up slightly , then had EBRT , 22 sessions , the PSA went from 0.14 , then to 0.11 , now after 1.5 years is 0.072 . The trend is your friend . The doctors said the EBRT takes some time in people , some longer than others . Mine took about a full year to react . I am 60 . Gleason 3+4 . PSA prior to surgery was 4.5 PSA . I have never had chemicals nor ADT . So far my health is good. I enjoy hiking with the dogs in the mountains on Vancouver Island , and traveling to far away tropical places in the winter months . God Bless to all . Live each day like its your last ! enjoy each minute ! It sounds like your PSA in under control . Try your PSA at different times of the day . Also I noticed IF I go to Suana and swim before my PSA , im dehydrated , which leads to slightly higher PSA levels in me .

I had a prostate cancer surgery and removed the grand 3 years ago when the greasiness score is 7. Since then I found on my PCSA is increased double or even 5 time more.( from 0.008 to 0.033, then 0.035 , 0.074 to now 0.37).

This seems to be a bad sign , very likely my prostate cancer comes back, I would like to have some advice about what I should do for treatment. I am 77 now now among few different treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, hormone etc. but don’t know which is the better treatment for my age and health situation. I have atrial fibrillation but no other health problems, and keep active, and regular life style, such as swimming and walking every day. Your experience is highly appreciated
