Hi @ladyjane85. I am not an expert. But I do know much like any other medication, no one person reacts the same. Some drugs or medications are more effective for some verses others. Here's a link that may give you further insight. Hope it helps alittle.

To Dawn - thank you I have read all that before. I just do not respond
to some 40 odd meds, and the medical, named dronabinol is very expensive.
from ladyjane
Have you ever discussed the pharmacogenetic testing with you physicians considering it? This would eliminate attempting to find the right one 40 times. 😉

It has help many of our patients find the right medications for them and eliminate all the guesswork.

To @dawn_giacabazi from ladyjane85 Have stayed with a dr for many yrs
before changing medications were not given by 40 odd drs. the testing you
talk about would cost a lot next to just trying the med as has been done
for many years. But I will talk about it with pain management dr. Thank
you.

My apologize, I did not think you saw that many doctors. You are fortunate for that. Many patients find it very difficult to find the right doctor for them. I myself was seen by 27 different specialist referred by my primary doctor before finding the right team to treat my post concussion syndrome. Shots from pain clinic every single week for a year.

Pharmacogenetic testing is covered 100% by Medicare most states public aid and private insurance.

I wish good luck!! I hope you find relief soon.

Dawn, I noticed you have a diagnoses of post concussion syndrome. Please tell me about that. Thanks

I second the geneyic testing. I used a test by Assurex. They will cover it on a sliding scale if your insurance won't. Maximum out-of-pocket expense is $300. Medicare covers it. I got all kinds of info on how my body responds to pain meds, seizure dugs, anti- anxiety meds, adhd drugs, bipolar meds, antidepressants, etc. It also details any imperfections in your liver enzyme profile. All you need is a cheek swab and a doctor or psychiatrist to go over results with you. It was extremely helpful.

ladyjane85 Dronabinol is used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in people who have already taken other medications to treat this type of nausea. Is this your major problem?
