My doctor also switched me from Anastrozole to Exemestane. It's been 4 months and I haven't experience any serious side effects. Just the normal side effects such as pain in my legs when get up in the morning or sitting for a long time, eye blurry. Anastrozole caused my fingers to be so rigid that it's hard to grasp or hold on to something, pain in my right collar bone, etc. So far so good with Exemestane. Everybody reacts differently to AI. Give it a try. Most likely you'll be fine. Hugs.
Thank you so much!! I feel better about it now!!❤️❤️
My body did not like Anastrozole. I only made it 4 weeks. Very emotional and body felt sick. Dr switched me to Exemestane. Noticed difference in 2 days. So much better for me!! Good luck to you!!
I was switched from Anastrozole to exemestane a year ago after being in Anastrozole for 2 years. Unfortunately the Anastrozole caused damage to my back so I can’t say for definite exemestane is better or worse than Anastrozole. From what I know from other people, exemestane is easier on the body than Anastrozole. By the way, I take this every second day. Go on YouTube and put in Exemestane every second day. There is an oncologist on there that says that he sees no problem with women who have bad interactions with AI, to refit to every second day. Have a look.
Also look up Liz O’Donnel. I’m not sure if that’s her name but have a look
I was switched from Anastrozole to Exemestane also. The only problem I've had is weight gain. I'm up about 20 lbs.....................not liking it!!!
I’ve been on exemestane for a year. 9 more years to go. The side effects for me are very minimal. I do hear that it causes bone loss. Hope this helps
Rosa1935 - yes, that is what I do with Exemestane also. Take every other day.
I am on Exemestane and my oncologist told me to be careful of phytoestrogens. I said doesn't the AI block estrogen? And he said no, Exemestane does not block estrogen, it only keeps your body from making it. Has anybody else been told this? I am concerned because all the healthy foods contain phytoestrogens: beans, legumes, whole grains, broccoli, cabbage, kale, fruits, flax seed, etc. I am also taking chamomile as a sleep aid - and there is a warning on the MSK website saying that people with hormone sensitive cancer should not be given this.....
What? Are you serious? I will definitely ask my oncologist about this.. that’s crazy, doesn’t even make sense to me.. thank you !
