I have also suffered from severe, chronic buttock pain for 8 years after a bad ski fall on my lower back. It took a year and a half to get the pain under control with the help from meds and a spinal cord stimulator. Injections and nerve ablations never helped. PT never helped. After about three years of decent pain management, the pain returned with a vengeance in Feb of 2021. I had a pain pump implanted in 2023. It has not provided any pain mitigation. I would suggest a trial of the spinal cord stimulator. It can be done in the doc's office in most cases. You wear an external battery pack for a couple of days with an electrode temporarily implanted near the spinal cord, than taped in place. You see if it gives you any pain relief. If so, you can decide whether you want to go ahead with the permanent implant. It's not an involved procedure. Many companies maks SCS's, including Medtronics, NEVRO, Boston Scientific, and Abbott. I wish you success in finding some relief. You should nor have to suffer like this any longer.

I was horrified reading your email because I’ve been suffering with intense buttock pain for 8 months, but 8 years is almost too much to bear! Because of my age, I’m no longer a good candidate for surgery (84j, otherwise I would have had it done already, I wonder if this could be still pain from PMR which I had in March of last year. Not sure about that. So far, no medications help, I’ve also had epidurals, PT, with no relief. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had this horrible pain for so long, Andy I pray that I can find relief very shortly.
