Internal body vibrations all night

Posted by cst @cst, May 11 2:17pm

My entire body started vibrating internally 3 months ago (Feb 2024) at night. I take 300-600 mg gabapentin each night and it helps some. I’ve been blessed with incredible health my entire life, although I have had some neck problems (stenosis) recently, starting in Dec 2023; two TFESIs made it better. I am 59 yo and recent Air Force retire. I am fairly certain I don’t have any underlying conditions (diabetes, autoimmune, HIV, Lyme, etc). Rheumatologist doesn’t think I have autoimmune; getting a second opinion soon. Neurologist “can’t rule out SFN” so I just gave blood and have a nerve conduction test scheduled.

Q: Anybody have similar experience with internal vibrations all night long?
Sometimes I can feel them somewhat during day. If so, please share your experience.

Yes, seronegative autoimmune diseases do exist. Given your Hashimoto’s (and its seronegativity—yes?), autoimmunity should be high in the differential.

Hmm, just saw an article about a combination of myelitis and myositis being induced by Covid. It’s rare, but your symptoms are rare, so maybe it’s worth a shot.

Best of luck with NIH. As I’ve said before, I hope you get answers.

Yes!I just have to find a Rhuematologist or specialists that will look into seronegative I was looking at Sjogrens because of my extremely dry painful eyes and constant dry cough that came on with all my symptoms.I had no idea Sjogrens could cause walking problems.I thought that was just dry eyes and dry mouth.I think I have more than one thing going on unfortunately.

I have Sjogren’s—sort of. I’m Ro-SSA positive but don’t have very dry eyes/mouth. So I’m kind of the inverse of you. Sjogren’s can be associated with myelitis, more so than lupus. It is even more commonly associated with peripheral neuropathies. Any of these neuro complications can cause difficulty walking. Believe me, I know—unfortunately.

I hope NIH can help. You’re definitely seeing the best of the best.

i get that at night in my stomach, and sometimes my feet. I take meclizine for it and it stops. Sometimes this happens during the day too. Strange feeling!

On Feb 20, at night, my entire body started vibrating/buzzing/trembling starting when I try to fall asleep and lasting all night. My PCP prescribed gabapentin, which allows me to sleep some.

I am 59 and have no health issues except for this. I have always taken good care of my self (diet, sleep, exercise, non smoker, etc).

I saw a rheumatologist who doesn’t think I have autoimmune; I am getting a second opinion June 6.

I saw a neurologist May 7 who “couldn’t rule out SFN” so she ordered blood work that all came back negative or within normal limits. Since May 7 appointment with her, my feet started tingling and experiencing warm waves for about 5 seconds. I have also been light headed in last 10 days. Somewhat fatigued.

As of yesterday, May 25, I am feeling weird sensations all over my body - chest, neck, face, arms, calf, shoulders, etc. I have a nerve conduction test scheduled Jun 7 and a biopsy punch June 10. I see a different neurologist in Austin Texas on Jun 26 (for second opinion). I am thinking about making appointments at Mayo in Minnesota. Peripheral neuropathy is a term I never heard of until a couple weeks ago.

Anybody know or understand what I am experiencing? My symptoms seem to be moving fast and not so localized like most in this group. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. This is all very scary right now.

I have had something similar but only on my right stroke-affected side. No definitive answers. Just medications and suggested PT.
