Prediabetes - Blood Sugar Level down & down
Prediabetes, taken Invokana 100mg daily. Started no Daily Juice & Dessert 2 moths ago due to Blood Sugar Level A1C was 7.0%. Then, doing A1C every 2 weeks - A1C % started to drop: from 7% to 6.6% to 6.1% to 5.5% now 5.2%.
What should I do? I still want to take Invokana 100mg - had it over 16 months.
Please suggest.

Help me understand...
Do you think your blood sugar is too low? 5.2 sounds pretty good to me.
What is it about Invokana that you like? Could you maybe go with a lower dosage?
As a full bore diabetic (50+ years) I want to weigh in here. @canada @ronaldtseng (do you have 2 handles?) it looks like you are taking your prediabetes seriously and trying to take good care of yourself. The A1C test is a test that can give you an idea of how your blood sugars have been over a 3 month period. Doing the test every 2 weeks is probably not necessary. But your numbers do look really good. Do you also use another blood sugar monitoring system such as a glucometer?
So you take Invokana (a non insulin diabetes medication). At Mayo Clinic Connect we don’t diagnose or prescribe. We share our stories to support and encourage each other. @scottrl had a good point about the possibility of adjusting the dose. Who prescribes your Invokana? Could you review your A1C, your blood sugars and your Invokana use with that provider to get a professional medical opinion on what would be the best next steps in your treatment?
Good Day,
Thanks for your answer.
Invokana 100 mg - which is tablet transfer extra sugar in blood to urine. Getting out the excess of sugar in your blood & your body. This is how to control my Prediabetes.
Yea, A1C 5.2 is perfect & normal. Then my doctor could take off this tablet. Then could have Prediabetes >>>> Diabetes .
p.s. This tablet was invented 2 years ago - costing over $50.00 per tablet at a time.
I also do not like my Blood Sugar Level is dropping too fast. Now I do not know how to manage my Daily Sugar intake to maintain A1C's goal.
Good Day Cheryl,
My family doctor takes care of me. But I try my best to control Blood Sugar Level by myself. It is why I take A1C every month. Due to high A1C - it is the reason why I take it every two weeks to satisfy my concerns. Thanks for your advices, my Doctor will give me the advices if I ask & see him.
I also checking my Blood Sugar Level daily by using:
1. Contour Blood Glucose System.
2. Accu-Answer Monitoring System.
3. Omeaoh B-2 - Blood Monitoring & Blood Pressure System
continue....
I also take METFORMIN.
In my mind - due to "not" taken Juice & Dessert daily - could affect average Blood Sugar Level daily, isn't it? 🙂
Son you are taking 2 meds for diabetes? With you healthier eating habits you might be able to reduce those or eliminate one drug at least. Ask your doctor.
Thank you for your advice.
