Monkeywings, the picture above looks like either a reaction to the tape border on the appliance, or moisture induced dermatitis. Sometimes I get that if I wear the appliance too long (14days). When I get that I clean a dry the area then apply a light dusting of Desenex, then dab a skin prep wipe over that, air dry and put the appliance on.

If it’s sore because of a reaction to the tape border on the appliance, you’ll need to find an appliance that won’t irritate your skin.

Thanks, I usually change the flange every 4-5 days

Ravna, I am curious - how long do you wear the urostomy bag? I was told to change it every 3 or 4 days and that frequency was wearing me out(not exactly the highlight of my day, just stressful to do it perfectly every time to minimize the chance of a leak) plus it was a burden to track it on the calendar.
I now change it every Sunday, which is easy to remember. I thought I was pushing the limit by going a week, you mentioned 14 days, wow! Any concern about getting a UTI?
