What is Stapedectomy Recovery like?

I had Stapedectomy surgery on my left ear on 3/22/24 for Otosclerosis and tinnitus. The first 3 weeks where a Kaleidoscope of high volume sounds that went on all day and night, from roaring and hissing, to really loud and clear sounds for a about a minute then things would distort to a painfully high volume and then my ear would plug. Anything loud was very painful. My ears popped really loud when swallowing or yawning, I lost weight after surgery because I got sick of hearing gunshots in my ear while eating.

I got plug removed on 4/18/24 and my ear still pops and snaps, but it's not painful or crazy loud like when that plug was in there. I can hear really good at times but only for a few seconds before the sound fades out and ear feels plugged again. Sometimes the sounds are really loud and distorted though and synthetic like a robot and very annoying. These too only last a a few seconds at most before sound fades and ear is plugged again. When I'm driving with heater or AC on, the roaring in my ear so loud it's like I'm on a motorcycle without a helmet. I have been using a noise canceling ear plug in that ear just for driving it's so bad.

Hopefully, I'm just going through the healing process still and all this goes away. It has gotten a lot better and I can at least sleep now. I have appointment next week with surgeon and I'll see what he says.
