This thread on esophagus and stomach surgery is so awful I can't believe a surgery that causes a living hell, life sentence, even exists. In a time where artificial hearts, limbs, ect are done with such success... the "brilliant minds of our time " still perform this barbaric surgery. On the lighter side (there isn't one), losing weight and a lower grocery bill would be great. Many good thoughts being sent out to you.
My breathing is much better and a week-long heart monitor shows that there was no heart damage. I lost weight I needed to lose and still eat smaller meals. I think I need to give up coffee, tho. There's worse things.
I'm glad I had it done.
wow, that's cool, and I almost forgot about that, but back then I used popsickles and blue ice, I'd put them on my tummy laying there, cause it would cause the bowel I guess to "shrink" the coolness of it, and in doing so "contact" and that would stop that stupid what it's called, that swollen tummy, and I'd move them around and they'd shrink and get things to move along....popsicles to eat, and popsickles to lay on my tummy, and ...what's that swollen tummy thing? anyway, sure seemed to help. now here's another thing that I used for my gastroparesis, and that's a tenz unit, but gotta be careful cause it can cause the tummy to tighten up and tense up, maybe aggravate IBS, but a tenz to make my muscles "move" put one on one side or the other or the small of the back and such, and turn it on, keep the juice low enough that it's not stinging, and see if that helps, I think that it helped me...still not sure, oh yes, one more I bought freeze dried breast milk from a lady on the web, and added that and that probioltics, there's like two hundred to four million different probiotics and that seemed to help me go from constipation to gooey poo, to regular bowel movements...all those little bugs and such, there's a ton of live organisms, and I read that they are using fecal implants from donors, so I got thinking, okay where to we get them in the first place, well from mom, right? and it can't all be in utero, cause the blood and such from the placenta and that chord thingee, so how...so I asked Charlie my brother and he said well breast milk, so I go hmmm, and starting doing research, and wow, amazing. Also raw milk from cows, but goats is better, but if you can snag some raw breast milk, maybe from a friend, or some freeze dried that's the best, and I think that all those bugs might help with the action and motility, the entire process...
but then I don't know, all I know is that it helped me a lot ,and those PPI kill off the good bugs, and things like SIBO and such, and misery and pain and that breast milk sure helped me a ton of a lot, almost fixed that part of me...life is good again~
GOOD GRIEF, how awful. I have a hiatal hernia too, but dr said that it was not causing problems so leave it alone. I didn't think that was a good idea, but after reading your post, my hiatal hernia is staying put. I have too many other problems to deal with, twisted intestines, I can't handle anything more. Thanx for the insight.
I agree. I had mine for several years without any problems. Then I had a year of misery. I was even aspirating in my sleep. You will know. I had to have it done. But there's always a risk when you have a serious surgery. Just like my laminectomy. It didn't work but I needed to do something. I'm hoping my doctor contacts me when she gets back from her vacation. Now on CT scan they found the mesh is protruding into my chest cavity. I'm really hoping she used the dissolvable mesch because I can't do this again.
Well I had to have it. I would never go back to the horrible symptoms I had. Racing heart, fire in my gut so bad I needed a new esophagus flap, stomach protruding into my chest making it hard to breathe, bending over and food coming out, aspiration in my sleep, never being able to lay down. Every surgery has risks. You just need know if you're willing to take them. I do have other problems with my digestion I've had since before my surgery. But the slow digestion and the other stuff seems to be worse now. I also have mesch protruding into my chest since my latest CT. I'm hoping she used a dissolvable mesch so it will just dissipate. The hernia problems are gone.

I had mesh used for my inguinal hernia at age 16. I would have said I had no problems. But now with 17 yrs of CIC and learning that abdominal adhesions of any kind ( from prior surgeries, trauma (twin birth at age 20, both were full size, I lost 15 lbs puking 10-15x day, then gained 190lbs in 5 months) my stomach lining was quite literally ripping apart and a huge c-section major infection in scar), endometriosis, possibly the mesh can all attack the colon(and replicate like an alien invasion)and make 💩💩💩 a living hell. Keep tabs on your mesh.

Anyone experiencing gastro issues post Covid?

You have my sympathy.
Has anyone had a successful Fundo surgery? All I read is horror stories. Anyone try Lynx ?

Yes, smaller portions more often. Because of the twisted esophagus, be careful of raw carrots and celery.
This is not good. What's a laminectomy? Maybe you need a new dr?
