Internal body vibrations all night

On Feb 20, at night, my entire body started vibrating/buzzing/trembling starting when I try to fall asleep and lasting all night. My PCP prescribed gabapentin, which allows me to sleep some.

I am 59 and have no health issues except for this. I have always taken good care of my self (diet, sleep, exercise, non smoker, etc).

I saw a rheumatologist who doesn’t think I have autoimmune; I am getting a second opinion June 6.

I saw a neurologist May 7 who “couldn’t rule out SFN” so she ordered blood work that all came back negative or within normal limits. Since May 7 appointment with her, my feet started tingling and experiencing warm waves for about 5 seconds. I have also been light headed in last 10 days. Somewhat fatigued.

As of yesterday, May 25, I am feeling weird sensations all over my body - chest, neck, face, arms, calf, shoulders, etc. I have a nerve conduction test scheduled Jun 7 and a biopsy punch June 10. I see a different neurologist in Austin Texas on Jun 26 (for second opinion). I am thinking about making appointments at Mayo in Minnesota. Peripheral neuropathy is a term I never heard of until a couple weeks ago.

Anybody know or understand what I am experiencing? My symptoms seem to be moving fast and not so localized like most in this group. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. This is all very scary right now.

I have had strange sensations for 20 years with no answers. Did I ask you before about Lyme testing? Also consider a reaction to electromagnetic radiation. (I started reacting to wifi, smart meters etc.). I have found that medicines can increase sensations as well. Does a hot shower or bath help you?

Yes, I need to get tested for exposure to toxic mold, although I don’t think that is as simple as it sounds. My wife has no symptoms, but I’ve read it affects everyone differently. Thanks for the information and advice.

Small Fiber Neuropathy confirmed by biopsies not blood draw. Ask your neurologist to do the biopsy.

Yeh, this weird neuro sheeyut is wicked scary.

It’s interesting that you can pinpoint the exact day your symptoms began. (So could I—Feb 8, 2024. Bad month, Feb 2024) I think that’s something your doctors should not ignore—could be a clue. . Once it started, did it come on fast or gradually (like over weeks)?

The distribution doesn’t sound like peripheral neuropathy. That usually starts in your feet and hands and works its way toward your trunk, often slowly. But who knows: I don’t.

Some thoughts: Have you had any imaging? Specifically MRI of your brain and spinal cord. What autoantibody tests did you have? I like the suggestion to get a pathogen work up, especially for viruses.

I had (have) transverse myelitis—inflammation of the spinal cord (autoimmune-mediated, in my case.) Not at all saying that’s what you have. Just letting you know you’re not alone and I understand the scariness of strange neuro symptoms.

Take care.

I have had something similar but only on my right stroke-affected side. No definitive answers. Just medications and suggested PT.
