Need Advice - What drug to Follow Up Evenity
I finished my 12th injection of Evenity on March 28th. It’s the only medication I’ve taken. Doctor recommended Prolia. I told her I would do ONE only. Then Reclast, then off drugs. My goal is to be able to ride horses for the rest of my life. I was diagnosed after I broke my shoulder. I’m 66. I suspect I have good bone quality. Started HRT.
Is that a good strategy?
Can you go from Evenity to Forteo?

I just completed my 12th injection of Evenity at the end of March. I had zero substantial side effects. After every injection, I did nothing. I felt a wee bit tired for about four hours. I took the day off and rested to give my body the best chance of recovery.
In addition, I started HRT because hormone loss was the root cause of my disease. I went from osteoporosis to osteopenia in one year. I was nervous about the side effects, but it was a good choice. Wishing you the best of luck!!
I hope to pick your brain a bit. I am about to complete my 2-year protocol with Tymlos and have some options to hold my gains. Reclast, Prolia, and thru my cardiologist, bioidentical hormones for my very low numbers, which he believes will also help my bones. And yes, my lack of hormones after a full hysterectomy at 38 years old caused my severe bone loss. I am 72 years old so I want to be somewhat confident I’m making good choices for my body. I’m not sure if Evenity is an option after Tymlos…but I have options. Thanks for any info.
Sorry, forgot to ask…is Evenity a monthly injection?
Evenity is a monthly injection that can be taken AFTER Tymlos or Forteo, but not the other way around. You can’t go from Evenity to Tymlos/Forteo. It’s intended to be a series of 12 injections. It’s in a similar class as Tymlos and Forteo. Happy to answer any questions you have about Evenity. Best of luck!
ceciliamarypatriciafrancis You could do another round of Evenity and try to grow some more bone before trying something like Reclast to hold on to the bone you have.
Is that possible? I thought it became less effective towards the end and that’s why 12 injections were recommended.
I am almost done with Evenity 2 more months to go than I will follow up with Reclast . My spine T score when I took the DEXA was -4.6 .
That's a really negative score. I hope Evenity improves things greatly. Good luck!
Maybe I should check that out with the ENT. I would only do it if it was for a few months, not the whole year. A strange possible side effect: When I was doing the 12 month course of injections, after month 8, I had mysterious rashes on my legs. I brought that up at my 9 month visit, but it was discounted as "not at all likely". When I visited this site after my year was over with positive results, another person remarked on "a rash that felt like bug bites when walking through grass". This was just like I felt. My rash did go away in weeks, but whenever I took my nightly hot bath, I could see tiny red dots under the skin where the rash had been. This February, I had Covid and one of the side effects was the return of the rash. Is this my imagination or could it be a side effect of Evenity? 3 months later, I'm still itchy.
Do you know why you can't do Tymlos/Forteo after Evenity? What if you do something for a year or so in between?
