Lung Nets and pain in arm pit

Posted by shosh3700 @shosh3700, May 22 1:11am

At the moment, I have only one lung net in my right lung. The last two days I have been having severe discomfort in my right armpit. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be that the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes there? I've read, in most cases it's not likely, however, it's not impossible.

I have experienced this and feel something in my armpit lymph node area too. My oncologist checks it bimonthly and isn't concerned as long as it hasn't grown and doesn't think it's a NET. My primary NET was in SI and spread to stomach and liver. I've been on Somatuline(Lanreotide) for 16 months with quarterly MRIs. So far the treatment is keeping the imaged NETs from growing. I guess eventually we'll find out what the arm pit bump is if/when we do a full body Petscan. Are you being treated with meds? I'm not super freaked out about my lump b/c the meds should keep all the NETs in check.🙏

You may be experiencing side effects from the lanreotide. Or other medication interaction with laneeotide or SSAs.

I experienced blood sugar swings, an interaction with Metformin. Pain in my right shoulder and bloating is common as the lanreotide will interfere with your gut enzymes.

Just a few of the known side effects.

@shosh3700, I can understand your concern. Any new symptom and our mind goes directly to fearing the worst. I hope you saw the helpful posts from @ce1b and @stevestenberg31.

Sore lymph nodes can mean many things from inflammation, reacting to treatment, and more. It is worth talking to your oncologist about. Have you made an appointment to look into it?

I did call one of my oncologists and spoke with him and he wasn't overly concerned and didn't think it was related to my NETS. The discomfort has gone for now, so, could have just been something minor. Thanks, Colleen.
