Hi all: I have been learning about being old since turned 80. I am 85 and I feel what is good for me is my career as an artist(painter) which I continue to work at everyday...and as time passes I notice different things happening to me that happened with my husband(deceased 2008) who was 21 yrs my senior. It reassuring and calming to say to myself "oh yeah I remember this" I also promised myself about 4yrs ago to avoid stress as much as possible. If it is not going to be fun or feels too stressful to be fun say NO! You don't have explain just say "no thanks, am busy". I also hang out with younger people, make sure I get between 8 & 9 hrs sleep or take naps if needed. I am an artist and I try to be creative everyday one way or another

I am impressed and so happy for you. Hope I can be as happy and productive as you are when I get there. Keep on trucking girl.

Dear From the Hill-
You have learned from your late husband, and now we are learning from you.
We, the Older Folks, are the world's experts on being old.
Your need to focus your energies on what gives your life meaning and leave the frills for those with energy and time to spare speaks to me.
Thanks!
