Asking for information regarding preparation for and recovery restrictions for
sentinel node biopsy for melanoma on inner R upper forearm
I am not a physician. I have had melanoma on my left cheek of my face. They did a biopsy. but I don't remember what kind. After the biopsy I just applied vaseline and a bandaid twice a day. They excised the melanoma about 3 weeks later. I continued to apply vaseline after washing it gently 2 times a day until it healed.
Did you need any kind reconstructive or cosmetic surgery and/or a flap? Also, did you need any chemotherapy or immunotherapy?
How big was the melanoma and how many stitches did it require? How big was the excision compared to the size of the melanoma?
I didn't need chemo or reconstructive surgery. There were stitches and the incision was about two inches long.
Thank you for your reply! Do you know what stage your melanoma was? I am happy to hear you didn’t need chemo or immunotherapy. How is your scar now, can you see it or has it faded?
I don't know what stage but the spot had been monitored by my Dermatologist for a while. The scar has faded. It's been a few years. It's still visible if you look close.
