Anyone else has developed eye problems while on osteoporosis meds?

Five months later, after an upper respiratory tract infection, Mrs. N. experienced acute onset of a gritty, burning sensation in both eyes. She was prescribed topical erythromycin at a walk-in clinic, but her symptoms did not improve. After months of waxing and waning symptoms, she presented to her family physician. The results of an eye examination were unremarkable. She was referred to an ophthalmologist, who prescribed topical tobramycin and dexamethasone. Her symptoms improved but then recurred after weaning this treatment. At repeat visits, she had diffuse conjunctival erythema. Her ophthalmologist referred her to a colleague, who diagnosed allergic conjunctivitis. Over several months, the patient tried lubricant, vasoconstrictor and antihistamine eye drops, oral antihistamines, and elimination of potential local irritants, all without effect.

I've been on Forteo for 10 months and noticed my vision changing. Just was diagnosed with fluid by the retina. I'm being referred to a retina specialist.

I have been on TYMLOS for 1 year. I have been suffering with dry eye the entire time. Doctor said it's not related to the medication so I have gone to two different ophthalmologists who have prescribed numerous different drops trying to treat this. The drops are not helping. So now I have found that dry eye is indeed a side effect of t y m l o s. I have discontinued use of the t y m l o s, I am on day four without it. My dry eye condition seems to be subsiding, I will give it a total of 10 days. The ophthalmologist as well as the doctor have said that dry eye is not a side effect of this medication. So, I appreciate your post

I experienced extreme stabbing pain in my left eye.

It appears to be an autoimmune condition. The jury is still out.

So glad this subject is included in the discussions; thanks to whomever started it!

Although I was diagnosed with blepharitis previously, it was never a problem - my grandmother had a teary, red eye as far back as I could remember so I dismissed it as hereditary.

However, after beginning Evenity, I began to notice that my right eye spontaneously watered quite a bit, and both eyes felt, for lack of a better word, oily. Every morning I felt like I had slept on a beach the night before - so much grit in the corners of my eyes and stuck in my eyelashes. My close vision has also become a bit blurry. I didn't put two and two together . . . until searching random websites about bone building drugs and odd side effects of those drugs - one of which was dry eye issues.

I went to an opthalmologist who confirmed blepharitis (which manifests itself as minuscule ulcers under the eyelids), but gave no real reason as to why it was so active. The doc recommended washing my eyes, using drops, and a heated mask to relive the symptoms. I recently discovered preservative-free eye drops that seem to give better relief than some other "super-hydrating" ones. The doc also wants to do tear duct testing to make sure that isn't the issue.

I hope that once I finish Evenity in late June, this problem begins to resolve itself, at least to the point of being tolerable. Additionally, I can't be sure about whether Tymlos (first med prescribed) might have had a hand in this or if it's purely Evenity's fault (lol). I also can't be sure if perhaps years of Reclast might have played a part in the whole thing.

Something else to look forward to :). Thanks for everyone's input and perhaps we'll be able to "see clearly now" post-bone builders. Cheers all!
