Hi! Do you remember what grade your dcis was? Also how old are you? I have dcis in right breast . Had it removed, now doing radiation. I asked about a mastectomy to my surgeon and they advised against it. I am 46.

I guess since it’s DCIS. And you where probably low grade .Hopefully with the clinical trials they will be able to figure things out draw the fine line where they won’t need to do surgery for DCIS grade 1 and 2 . Mine is multi focal and is a large area so I don’t have any option but mastectomy. They will put expander and send everything to pathology which takes a week. If there is no invasive tissue anywhere then I can schedule reconstruction

Hi , it seems we’ve had a similar case. I had DCIS in my right breast, 5mm, had it removed only needed 5 radiation treatments. I think the worst for me afterwards was what is called cording. I’m having PT for that and it’s helped tremendously. I just started the anti estrogen pill, Anastrzole since my cancer was estrogen receptor positive. It’s only been 2 days so I’m hoping side effects if any are mild. I’ll be on it for 5 years.
