Asking for advice for broken right side of the back
I have a fracture at the top of right side of my back after accident after hit to right shoulder. And I have no option to go see a doctor. Should I buy myself a back brace and what kind? What can I do to help bones heal properly? My right hand is hanging, there is a deep
like opening at the right side
collarbone. Thank you.
PS. Also forgot to mention my feet are numb and upper legs this happened about 10 days ago and the feet didnt go back to normal since.

Hello: so sorry to hear you have been injured! The only reasonable advice you could receive would be to seek treatment at your nearest emergency room. Where are you? Do you have access to care?
It sounds like you need to get medical care and not try to self- treat as things could get worse.
Please see a doctor. The financial counseling office at a hospital can help you with insurance and financial hurdles.
I am in Canada. I dont think they can offer same financial assistance to foreign patients. Do you know if they might at Mayoclinic?
I am in Canada.
I cant see a doctor.
I would want to come to Mayoclinic but even that I cant afford. Flight plus motel plus no insurance, dont have money to do that, I am on a low income. Thats why I am asking for advice from Mayoclinic here.
@tatianac, welcome. This forum does not provide medical advice from Mayo experts. Connect is an online community where patients share experiences and give and get support.
If you would like to seek a second opinion from Mayo Clinic specialists, you can self refer. Start by clicking this link http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
I urge you seek care from a doctor locally in Canada. Do you not have access to a hospital or clinic near by?
Hello @tatianac
As others have said, I too encourage you to seek medical attention immediately.
Canadian medical care is far less expensive than American because it is backed by the government.
In Canada, medical care is a human right: no one should suffer grave injury due to lack of funds.
If your presence in Canada is a legal matter, all medical care for those detained under the law, is completely covered.
When you present yourself to the Emergency room, ask to speak to a Social Worker, who will assess your situation, while emergency care is given.
Whatever life situation you are in, everything will become more complicated with a permanent injury.
Only you can assess the risks: but your physical needs sound urgent.
I wish you the very best in dealing with this matter.
Please let us know how you decide to proceed, and how everything turns out.
This sounds like something that needs immediate attention from a medical professional. The symptoms you describe are concerning. In the USA you could go to an ER. Insurance or not, they would treat you and sort out the details later. I don't know if you can do this in Canada, but they must have emergency rooms.
Please seek out medical help any way you can and as soon as possible. I'm not a Dr, but this sure doesn't sound like something to be left to self treatment.
All the best to you. Please let us know.
Thanks Christine - excellent advice.
WHY are you asking people in a medical blog when you should be seeing a medical healthcare professional?
