That's great news, Sam! I'm so glad to learn that you've had such a positive experience. Is the sound mechanical or foreign? I understand that you'll need some time to adjust to new sounds, assuming that you had some hearing capability before this.

My HL is on the border for CI but I don't want to lose the hearing I have (< 500Hz) so I opted for BTE/RIC aids and they're amazing. I, too, can now participate in conversations, although noisy environments are still challenging.

Have you considered other assistive devices? I know that some here are big proponents of T-coils and BT. I considered a device that connects to my TV, but I wanted to see how my HAs did without this. As I write this, my A/C is blasting away, so perhaps I'll indulge.

Most all newer hearing aids will Bluetooth connect with your TV and cell phone. Those two things are a must for me.
