Reclast vs Prolea?
I have osteoporosis and was on Tymlos for 7 months. I had to stop because of debilitating pain (that resolved with cessation of treatment) and am now on Fosomax.
I also have Barrett's Esophagus and Fosomax can cause esophageal irritation. My rheumatologist recommended Reclast but did not suggest Prolea because of the theoretical risk of Fosomax worsening my esophageal condition.
Can anyone provide advice on taking Reclast vs Prolea?

I may not be much of help when you read my dilemma….We are all different. My body reacted great taking Tymlos. after 15 months i switched to one year prolia. Had some aches and burning sensation in my hips and knees, and the thoughts of side effects and that I’ll have to take it for about 10 years…AND…you can’t stop…you may break bones just turned me off….my question….is it the medicine OR…big pharma is putting the fear in us to make the richer. I quit Prolia, in March I took my first Recast infusion with caution, took Tylenol for a few days as suggested…my armed hurt and on day 5 couldn’t walk on my feet. I do not know if it’s a coincidence or a reaction to recast…I have plantar fasciitis and still in PT….my point….we are all reacting differently. I may try not to take anything, stick to my vegan diet and exercise. What I DON’T understand….why to continue taking meds if DEXA show great improvement….why not to monitor us for a year?….so good luck to all of us….any reply just help us make the best decision.

I have been on Prolia for 5 years and 30days prior to my inj I have a CMP test done to check my calcium levels I do not take calcium supplements because of history of kidney stones I am fortunate that my calcium levels have all been normal or above. My DEXA test after 2 years on Prolia went from Osteoporosis to Osteopenia with good T scores on one side. I have never had CTX testing.
My next injection is in 3 weeks but I am going to go off Prolia which I have discussed with my Endocrinologist and will ask him to order my DEXA test which isn’t due till August, but Medicare covers it more often IF order to Evaluate Osteoporosis Medication.
I am sure your PCP would Oder a CTX blood test if you’re concerned and Medicare will cover it. I am 83 yrs old and can relate to dealing with your husband now. I had same problem 6 years ago, not easy!🙏🙏
