I have had diabetic foot neuropathy for several years and have found that Nike Air Monarchs provided the best support and pain relief. I recently got some diabetic shoes from a local store. They gave me a size 10 1/2 shoe based on their measurement. They are comfortable after only a short period of time but feel quite restrictive. I am currently wearing a Nike Air Monarch, a size 12 and extra wide (4E). The extra size acommodates my feet quite well and does not encourage callouses. I have had a callous on my right heel split on occasion and be a real problem to heel. I have a spot that has never healed and is always painful and delicate. It's too early for me to issue an opinion on the diabetic shoe so the best I can recommend is the Nike.

Hi Art @artatthegreatpnw, Welcome to Connect. Thanks for sharing what helps you. While I don't have diabetes, it runs in my family and I've always been in the pre-diabetes category. I learned the hard way how important it is to take care of your feet. I shared what happened to me in another discussion on tips for taking care of the feet here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/diabetic-neuropathy-its-important-to-take-care-of-your-feet/.

Have you had your doctor look at the spot on your heel that is painful and delicate?
