I don't think there is a specific breast cancer diet. Do you currently have breast cancer? Are you in treatment? Chemotherapy can preset challenges in terms of eating. Or are you asking preventatively? I gather a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low fat fish and dairy is considered healthy--but that isn't specific for cancer. Just wanting to know what your question stems from--and a doctor or dietician might be of use. Personally I avoid extreme fads that promise unrealistic effects.
There are books and articles on this but I just want to say that avoiding stress is also important. Every day I have tea and sorbet, a relaxing ritual that involves sugar 🙂 I am nine years out knock on wood.
I was never told about sugar, why can't we hv it
I actually recently saw a study saying sugar was fine in the context of cancer. Sorry I was just being humorous since sugar is considered "unhealthy" in general.
The doctor I see on the side (not main hospital oncologist) told me have two spoon of ground flaxseeds is better than any medicine for breast cancer; his office also told me to stay completely away from meat and dairy. So far I still eat egg and yogurt but I don’t eat meat anymore other than occasionally. Sardine and salmon are every other days.
@resort what kind of doctor said this?

There is a book called Eat to Beat Disease that was referred to me by a 2x bc survivor friend. I’m finding it very interesting. Main emphasis on fruits and veggies, nuts, seafood, etc.
Breast cancer rates in Japan, where I lived for a long time, are much lower than in the West - though not as low as many Japanese women seem to think. (Most of my female friends did not have mammograms etc) It's probably due to diet. The traditional Japanese diet is pretty healthy - apart from too much salt. But that doesn't mean that any particular diet is going to "beat cancer". I'd be running a mile from any medical professional who said that it would.
I contacted the cancer dietitian at my center and got started with better eating. I now follow the cancerdietitian.com. Julie Lanford is down to earth and practical.
Hi, following my diagnosis, I received information from the breast health dept where I was being treated that encouraged incorporating a greater variety of plant based foods while limiting red meat to once a week, avoiding/limiting processed meats and alcohol as much as possible. Poultry and seafood are fine as is low fat dairy. Hope this helps!
