12 years after an attempted VATS talc thoracotomy, I still have intermittent pain from the injury to my intercostal nerve. I found that a bra with a wide band at the bottom and no underwire helps. Try a fitting at a specialty bra shop rather than a department store. After your initial purchase, you can buy the same brand online. Your oncology center may have a someone that can help.

For everyday use, when I don't have to wear a regular bra, I have a sports bra by fruit of the loom that has the wide strap at the bottom, wide shoulder straps and front closure using 8 or 9 hook and eyes. It doesn't offer great support but it holds the girls in place.

@denzie Hi denzi! I am now 2 1/2 years out and I am still trying to find a bra that doesn’t aggravate under the breast area. I get one and it feels good for a day or two and then seems to aggravate me. Same here, if I don’t have to wear a regular bra, then I wear my old worn out sports bra. I don’t really have any “girls” left as I also had implants removed during my lung surgery. They were incapsulated and like soft balls sitting on my chest. Anyway, I try to wear somewhat padded bras but NO underwires. But it’s where the nerve is that bothers me on the left side. Lul vats surgery March of 2023. I am starting a new job soon that will require me to wear a good regular bra. Can you tell me if you have a website for the bras you have found that sre comfortable?
Thanks, and am praying you are doing well🙏 Cindy
