My pain began in my hips and after time migrated to my shoulders also. I NEVER had pain in my hands nor my wrists. One NP diagnosed me with RA! Did not believe that with no finger nor wrist involvement. When I got to my current doctor, he diagnosed PMR. On 3.5-4 mgs per day to control the inflammation and pain. Going on two years now and no remission in sight. Praying for that!
Any minor illness causes a flair and I now have afib. Caused by MPR or pred?? Who knows.
Hope this helps.

Any minor illness causing a flare sounds like reactive arthritis. That’s usually how it works but I would ask your rheumatologist about that. I have been very lucky that I have had some good doctors taking care of me.

Have you completed a prednisone taper while keeping records of stiffness and pain?
That is how my Rheumatologist diagnosed my PMR. I completed my taper a few weeks ago and am feeling so much better.

Hi @vandyms1974, I have developed HFpEF in my heart that my cardiologist tells me is from the long term Pred. I started at 20mg on January 21st and today tapered to 11.25mg. My resting diastolic heart rate has high pressure which means it doesn't properly relax. She told me it could also cause Afib. Now I have to taper as fast as safely possible to get off of it before it does more heart damage. Not sure what I'm going to do when the pain returns, but I do know I have to get off Pred asap.
