It's probably not as effective as a statin, but I avoid statins because I have chemo induced neuropathy in my hands and feet. Studies suggest that statins worsen the neuropathy. A known side effect of Letrozole is possible increased cholesterol levels. Citrus bergamot seems to help. At my last checkup my bad cholsterol was down some, but good cholsterol was up significantly. As I'm not diabetic and have good blood pressure, my doctor is not concerned. If you don't have neuropathy, red yeast rice is an otc supplement that has the same active ingredient as most statins.
