Does anyone have this problem! It’s a nightmare - please help!!

I have never heard of a belly button leaking fluid. My very deep belly button is a problem for an ostomy bag and I fill it each time I change my appliance with Brava stick paste made by Coloplast.

This case sounds like something a doctor might deal with.

I wish I could be of more help. Piki

i have not heard of fluid fromo belly button but i did have a lot of moisture in my stoma which lessened the amount of wearing time but it seems to have settled down now. I r.equested lots of samples all vendors till I finally settled on a pouch that works for me All the flat barriers did not work for me

my stoma does stick over skin about an inch Ihave a small mound at stoma and found the If mio flex convex barrier works well for me and I rarely have a leak now If you are having leaking from belly button I would call the doctor for his opinion a to why The convex barrier I use is star shaped and does not go near my belly button like some of the flat ones did Please keep us updated

Finding out the reason for the drainage from the bellybutton is the first order of business…while you’re doing that, you perhaps can cut the tape border on the appliance, where the bellybutton sits so that it doesn’t cover it, and then edge that with tape…also, a product called skin Tac applied to that side will help things stick.

Hi all,
I’m helping my 85 year old friend and we have an impossible problem.
From the surgery his belly button is leaking fluid. The fluid gets under the ostemy bag and detaches constantly. It’s a night mare.

Does anyone have a solution??

Any fluid seeping from the belly button needs medical attention asap.

I just had a thought… What if you used a pediatric urostomy pouch Over the leaking belly button first, then apply your ostomy appliance so that the wafer of your ostomy appliance overlaps the stomahesive base portion of the pediatric appliance? I don’t know if that would work, I’m not certain how close the bellybutton is to your stoma.

Seeing a WOCN (wound ostomy nurse) to help with solutions would be a good step. There should have been a consult with them prior to surgery and training after. Talk to the surgeons office to get a referral.
