i am among the individuals who took Reclast who had a severe reaction (specifically an anaphylactic reaction). i believe that i was likely allergic to one of the inactive ingredient. My allergist/immunologist researched cases of Reclast anaphylactic reaction and told me he found very few. I very much wish that i had been given the Brandname Reclast my allergist said needed to be prescribed for me instead of a generic. The first time i took reclast, it was brand name and it literally reversed my osteoporosis. The second time with the reclast generic, there was also significant improvement. Its unfortunate i had a reaction and its known that i’ve had repeated reactions to various preservatives
Hi gently, I am also on Forteo, currently in my second month. My endo is suggesting Reclast but is ok with Alendronate as follow up med. Reclast concerns me. I'm going to ask my endo about HRT even tough I'm 14 years post menopause. HRT may not be an option for me as I have a family history of heart disease (although I do not have any heart, diabetes, or cancer disease personally).
My question is..... per my endo, we can now take Forteo up to 4 years lifetime use. However I've read in Great Bones book that Forteo wanes around month 18. Is a break needed before starting a third year? If so, how long? What med can we take to lock in gains but not lock our bones from rebuilding with Forteo in the future?
Are you aware of any studies that show how long the various bisphosphonates last in our bones?
YES. I cannot take Risidronate because it caused my GERD years ago I have no choice except for Reclast. And I may need a tooth extraction in the next few months so my endodontist doesn't want me on it. It's serious stuff causing me a great deal of angst.
Why retake Forteo if I don't want to take Reclast afterwards? OR buy more time in the hopes a new drug will be offered? Thanks
