Is it safer to use water filtered through a Lifestraw pitcher than to use bottle spring water?

I also use bottled water to boil my equipment because our tap water is so high in minerals, that it forms thick deposits on equipment.

We have purified bottled water delivered in bpa free large 5 gallon bottles and then boil that for drinking because filters harbor mycobacteria. It gets expensive. Of a Lifestraw pitcher water can at least be used to boil equipment and to use to swish and rinse after toothbrushing while also swishing toothbrush in to clean, that would save some money.

Oh, I can't open this link....I tried to register but no email confirmation so far.
