Still in incredible pain 14 months after total hip replacement

Like almost everyone else, I have changed all of my doctors. Why do we have to go through this, prolonging any relief to our pain? It is so frustrating. My new hip dr. prescribed gabapentin and prednisone for my hip. I was having pain in my RIGHT leg every night. It would wake me up and I would be in lots of pain. The gabapentin took care of that. But now I have so much pain in my lower back, besides the pain that I have always had in my hip since surgery. I have never had any relief. I have been told I still have some inflammation in my hip. I am requesting an injection for bursitis. We'll see if they give it to me or not. They will not increase my pain meds, even though they are prescribing very little, not enough to get through my day. I have pain in my buttocks as well. I'm so sick of all this pain. I literally do nothing for periods at a time. I went through pt for 13 sessions. I quit when the pain became unbearable. I'm just hoping I'm taking longer than usual to mend, and that it will happen eventually. I'm 69 and not ready for this kind of life. There are things I want and need to do. I will sign off with FRUSTRATED.

Sorry you're having so much pain. I hope it gets better before your Hawaii trip. Drs don't want to treat pain anymore. The piddly 3 pain meds I take daily isn't enough. But they don't want to hear that. They really don't seem interested in your pain. I just don't get it. I'm not some drug addict looking for pain meds, I'm 69 years old and my pain is excruciating at times and it's VERY real. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in pain. Hip is STILL swollen after 14 months. I'll send a prayer your way. You can't miss Hawaii. You have to go, no matter what. Don't miss your chance. Will your Dr give u a shot with different medicine?

I am so sorry you’re in pain. It will be one year for me next month in September and I still cannot lift my leg when I’m sitting down or laying down. It’s like it’s really heavy. I can’t lift it and when I try it hurts so much. I can go up stairs, but when seated I cannot lift it up and I can’t lift it high enough to put pants on or get it the car without manually lifting it.
I hope yours gets better. I am so sorry you’re in this pain also.
Is yours painful all the time or just trying to walk? Can you lift your leg up when lying down?
