My humble opinion is to do everything you can to lose the weight or the surgery won't help you much anyway.
Good luck and prayers for you.
Ask dr for pool therapy …. The water it helps takes the weight of your extremities so you can walk and exercise in the pool….give it a shot …..any movement is good for you so be look up online chair exercises there is a lot out there …. I know pain we all do ….. but trust when I say exercising your legs will help whenever you plan to go for your surgery…also may help with some of you pain you are having …...good luck on your journey…..
Good evening @etna. Just checking in with you. How is your plan working. Do you have a counselor for weight loss now? Please let me know how things are going. I notice that there are other members with similar issues. I wish you all comfort and wellness..

I was overweight before surgery and was still getting knee injections and was told eventually...when I was told I was pre diabetic it really hit me so I started watching my diet and going to aquafit classes in the pool at the Y. It was the only things I could really do. I totally gave up sugar for the most part except for my coffee and watched my weight using at app called Fitness Pal. I stopped eating at 1200 calories and tracked everything. I started at 298 and went down to 221 however now after surgery am back up to 230 17 months out and am 62 soon to be 63. Start small but water is the easiest way to get active however you will be sore the next day. I did it several times a week. I think diet helped me mostly but the exercise gave me more energy I feel. I occasionally did Zumba but had to modify many of the activities but it's all about moving,. Best of luck and you can do this!!!!
