One thing I definitely try to avoid is water from a filter in the fridge, as it has an extra opportunity to sit in possibly contaminated tubing. I drink water from my tap that comes from my well, but not the fridge. At other locations, with municipal water systems, I use a Steripen.
If you are talking about filtered through Life Straw that is what is recommended.
