Breast Cancer Radiation and Basal Cell Carcinoma
Have any of you been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma following breast cancer radiation? I have had breast cancer twice in the last 4 years with 2 rounds of radiation treatment. Now I have been diagnosed with nodular basal cell carcinoma on my face. I will need to have moh's surgery. I have read that there can be a correlation, but I wondered if any on this site have had the same thing happen following breast cancer radiation?
I feel like radiation is a damned if you do and damned if you don't proposition.

I had Moh’s for BCC in 2022, but haven’t had breast cancer. Hope your procedure is seamless. Mine was really easy, but it did take most of the day, due to the number of patients being seen. He’s a top Moh’s surgeon so that lobby was full.
Thank you, Celia, for the kind words.
I hadn’t read that the correlation. I got my mammogram last last year, so I think it’s ok. I’ll have to stay diligent.
I should let you all know that I saw my radiation oncologist yesterday and she said there was not a correlation between breast cancer radiation and basal cell carcinoma on my face.
Hello Viking Warrior, I had Radiation 7/2022 & Chemo last quarter 2021-2022. Finally 3/2024 last test breast cancer free. Suspect,my current precancerous on earlobe and basil carc on check 2018 & mohs, Suspect it was there before I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am now wearing hats in the car, too!
Rest assured MOHS, gives peace of mind. You will be fine, you are a Viking Warrior of a different kind.
The good news, we are all sharing and somewhere out there, it may be connected or not. Fight, Fight until Flight. I am now doing best to change lifestyle to aid the ever so changing concerns after treatments and the anastrozole, This year, having different test to know my New base line with the after effects of treatments. Positive vibes and prayers going your way.
