Yes. When you do start having the pain you should try liquid diet for a couple of days and then go to low residue.
If you can take an anti-inflammatory, you should do immediately.
The low fiber diet is great to help heal, and you need to make sure and drink more than usually.

But, since you had the surgery I would call your Dr. You only have the pain in your side and no other diverticulitis symptoms. I would check for adhesions first.

Thanks for the reply. You're correct in that I should do a liquid diet first but I waited as we were traveling and I did not have a lot of options. I did base what I did on the fact that there was just the one symptom. Today, (4 days after beginning the low residue diet) all symptoms are gone. So glad it worked. I feel this is, most likely, something that will recur again. I will discuss it with my primary at my appt. in a couple of weeks. Again, thanks.
