Evenity and side effects: What helps joint and muscle pain?
Hi All,
I received my first Evenity injection two weeks ago. Everything was going well, did not even have injection site pain. But the last couple of days I have had joint and muscle pain especially in my neck and upper back, Lower back and arms. I've read the drug peaks around 7 to 14 days. I am wondering if this is normal, has anyone else experienced this and if these side effects subside? Is there anything you take before or after the injection to relieve this pain? It is very uncomfortable. Thank you!

Yes. I’m on traditional Medicare with a supplement plan
I have experienced brain fog and increase appetite - craving ice cream.
No walking or weights have already contributed to both the weight gain and depression. Walking 2-3 miles each day, more on weekends and weights 3 times/week are impossible with my T12 wedge compression fracture.
ritatripp, medicare paid for my P1NP test. I'm on original medicare with supplement plan.
Hi, Marylemons,
I stopped Evenity after 6 months because of side effects. I had a number of them which were: brain fog for about 2weeks, fatigue, increased blood pressure that started a few days after injection, headaches and random muscle spasms. I kept track of side effects, including changes in my bloodwork. I contacted Amgen and spoke to a nurse who was interested in changes that occurred from baseline. Evenity is a relatively new drug, so it behooves all of us communicate negative to the company.
Hi, I have gained a few pounds but I think some of that is my diet and trying to get in all of the appropriate amount of calcium and protein. I am definitely more hungry since starting Evenity. My fourth dose is next week.
I have a hard time concentrating and have basically stopped reading books which is not normal for me. As well my legs and hips are sore. Some of the discomfort is exercise related but some is definitely unusual.
Hi, I am getting my 4th dose next week. I found the side effects more noticeable the first month and they have eased off as the months progress. I would swear that after about 14 days, I felt a surge in my back from the first dose which included pain and discomfort, however that seems to have gone with each of the subsequent shots. My current side effects are mainly joint pain in legs and hips and more of an appetite.
I have a number of compression fractures in my thoracic (from November) and I honestly feel that the drug has strengthened by back (daily exercise has also helped of course).
Is medicare paying for CTX? Do you have the billing code for P!NP? The code for osteocalcin is 83937.
Hi @gently under what circumstances will osteocalcin be used? It seems CTX and P1NP are commonly used nowadays for gauge of osteoclasts’ and osteoblasts’ activities. Thanks!
Medicare paid all my osteoporosis related tests. Unfortunately I don't know the codes. My endo said she would code them as necessary.
Thank you for responding! It helps just to know my concentration/cognition issues could be from the Evenity and I’m not the only one experiencing it. Would love to hear what others say.
