I, too, have terrible osteoarthritis in both my hands and wrists; it came on REALLY fast, basically within a little over a year. I was off work for seven months (June -January) on short-term disability and have recently rejoined the workforce and the pain sometimes is just horrible that I can't sleep at night. I’ve always worked with my hands and can’t believe that all of a sudden, I can hardly make a fist or sometimes do regular everyday tasks without help or using my other hand for strength. I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands in November of last year, two weeks apart, and also had a trigger thumb and finger fixed at the same time. Both hands were great; now, just about every finger has pain. They did blood work last week, and everything is within normal limits, so thankfully, I don't have anything wrong with me, but I also don't have any answers or any ideas for the pain either. I’d really appreciate any help you can provide.

Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Sorry you are suffering so with osteoarthritis. This is a great place to gather information on what has worked for others.

If you haven't been you might want to be tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis. It often begins in the hands and is bilateral. The medications are quite effective. You might as well have an ANCA panel at the same draw.
