When did you come off Propanolol?

Hi, I also was prescribed propanol 10mg for post Covid palpitations. My cardiologist said that I can take it “as needed”, since I don’t have a life threatening condition (was on a few different heart monitors and have had echocardiograms).
But since he said as needed or really not at all because according to the tests, my heart rhythm is normal it’s just a high rate (what he said) and not required for me to take it for a serious condition, I CAN take it for my own comfort. I use to get them every day, a few times a day. After a about eight months on them, I took a break just to see if I “needed” them, after a couple of weeks I noticed the palpitations were not as bad in severity, meaning at one point my heart rate would shoot up to the 120’s -130’s (at rest) But on the break it was in the 90’s - low 100’s, like 103 ish (at rest). Then six weeks, they would happen two, three times a week, in the 90’s.
I’m thinking if the palpitations subside maybe you too can take as needed or if they stop, you can stop taking them. Maybe that’s what he means by “you will know”.
But get a second opinion, I did! Being that I am not a medical professional please ask one if he can’t give you the answer you need, before you do anything.
Sorry I couldn’t give a better answer, just wanted to share my experience since I was in the same situation.
Best of luck and better health to you!

I appreciate your sharing your experience! I like to hear what others have gone through, too. I know docs are the pros but may not have experienced what we have personally (and this is also a new phenomenon; his words, not mine) so I’m grateful to hear what others have to say firsthand.
I have not seen the cardiologist, only my PCP. He hasn’t felt it was necessary, especially since my echo showed healthy cardiac muscle. I’ll follow up again with him soon.
Thanks again for sharing!
Cheers to good health!
