Bad burn during radiation: Anyone had treatment stopped?

Posted by applegreen205 @applegreen205, Apr 21, 2024

Hello,

I’m new to the group. I completed chemo from April to August. I got burned really bad during radiation. The doctor stopped my radiation after 26 rounds, total 5 weeks daily and 2 days in week six. I didn’t receive the booster. Has anyone had radiation stopped due to burn? I’m also, taking Anastrozole for 10 years and Verenzio for 2 years for prevention.

Take aloe vera gel. Liki of the Desert 100% aloe.
Better, take an aloe leaf, score it and rub the gel on every 20 minutes.
Youll be amazed.

Do you feel this works better than aquaphor? Starting radiation on Wednesday. Want to be prepared.

Absolutely…. And its Lily of the Desert.
I used a real aloe vera leaf, scored it, cut it in blocks, put it in the fridge so it was ready on hand.
I did NOT use Aquaphor.
I've shared this before but its worth repeating:
From the first day i was radiated, 5 days a week for 30 days, i used the gel from the leaf and the DL gel.
Week 3 or 4 my dr calls me in and says he thinks hes miscalibrated me.
I asked “why? You dont think im burning enough?” He said “Yes, youre not burning at all!”
I said “Dr, its not what you did, its what IM DOING.”
I told him I was using the gel from the aloe leaf and the DS gel. He was stunned. Asked me if I had used the Aquaphor he gave me. I smiled and said “ What for? God provided the aloe vera plant, man provided the Aquaphor. Gods way is obviously better. It caused you to question me” 😉
For me, Aloe vera all the way.

If you choose aloe vera, Let us know how it works for you.

Great! I havent heard of sulfadyne cream nor was it presented as a choice given to me years ago.
Aquaphor was the standard and still seems to be.
Im glad it has worked for you and others will know of it, too.
Its always good to have new information and to know it has been successful.
For me, I prefer natural products. And aloe vera works on all kinds of burns and other ailments. Plus no script needed, easily available and always on hand.
Blessings to you.

I used aloe vera - the plant. Kept it in the fridge. The coolness felt really good. I also used vit E oil. I know it worked because I didn’t realize the radiation went up almost to my collarbone and didn’t moisturize that part much. I had a patch of burned/flakey skin there. My breast and underarm were fine.

I had 2nd degree burns on my chest during radiation for breast cancer. Probably started around week 3 and got worse. It did clear up about 2 weeks I have to get scans of my abdomen and thorax, and the thorax scans have shown consistently a cloudiness. I’ve been I have no symptoms, however, they do believe that I have radiation induced lung injury. It is considered to be very mild, and on my own, I establish myself with a pulmonologist to monitor this. I don’t think this happens commonly, but as I am otherwise asymptomatic, I wonder how many other folks like me there are who probably have a mild to very mild form of this injury and have yet to develop any symptoms. Hopefully I’ll never develop any symptoms.
