You might try Asian BBQ sauce, sometimes labeled Korean barbecue. May be a change you can taste. Also balsamic glaze or reduction has a strong somewhat sweet taste.

Hi Ruby slippers
After your suggustion to try Asian BBQ sauce, I picked up some Bulgogi marinade, some Japanese Yuzu BBQ sauce and balsamic reduction. I also got Pickapeppa sauce (Jamaican ketchup.) I think the variety of relatively strong, sweet, sour and spicy flavors are helpful for me.
