My husband dropped a full piece of sheet rock on his thigh 17 years ago and now there is a deep dent in the thigh muscle. What can we do?

@lynn75 Hello Lynn, and welcome to Connect. I know this is an old injury and there is probably scar tissue around it and through the muscle. What you might look into is Myofascial release which is a physical therapy technique to stretch out tight scar tissue. I have done MFR work for many years for physical issues, and it can get tissues moving again which also restores the fluid circulation through them. He may not get a complete improvement, but MFR may help with the functioning of the muscle and tissue. It is likely that this has created body tightness that can extend through the hips and back and that may improve. Tightness like this can pull the pelvis out of alignment. The PTs who know this are certified in the John Barnes methods. Here is our discussion on MFR. There is a provider search at http://mfrtherapists.com/

If he tries this, would you come back and share his progress?

It is important to have a consultation with your physician and confirm the diagnosis if it is scar tissue.
An ultrasound can be helpful in assessing soft tissue
problems.

Hi @lynn75, I'd like to invite @melmes78, @dapangpang, and @ad11, to this discussion as they all shared experiences with indentations on their legs or inquired about indentations on their leg muscles in the past on Mayo Clinic Connect.

Thank you, he has been to an orthopedic dr. had nerve conduction test, mri and a pain management dr. Showed it to all of them and they still have not done anything about it. They act as though it is insignificant.
