Husband first diagnosed in 2005 at age 58.
Abiraterone/Zytiga plus prednisone is not a last-ditch treatment. It kept my husband's Stage 4 prostate cancer suppressed for three years. Side effects for him were just some fatigue. Your doctor's advice sounds very sensible,

I am 77 now. Was 75 when I diagnosed.
I don't think 56 is out of the realm of those on MCC having prostrate cancer and symptoms.
You are going to read that almost every man will develop prostrate cancer if they live long enough. Most men will die from something else and then autopsy will show had prostrate cancer.
It is strange disease and the most common one is very slow growing and many men just to monitoring. I had radiation as it was recommened even though mine was low risk and confined to prostrate.
