I had intermittent burning in the back of my throat. Wasn’t sure what it was. Stopped acidic food, went on pepcid and it did stop, but I don’t think it was reflux. Never had reflux before. No burning in chest or indigestion.
I’ve resumed some acidic foods, stopped Pepcid with no recurrence of burning, so…idk.
I have post covid syndrome. I feel it’s related to that, but have no proof. But, I had recently been diagnosed and treated for Vitamin B12 deficiency.
Interesting…thanks for posting. Please read below.
I had some of the same tingling issues . I also had tingling sensations especially in chin area . I think for me is an allergic reaction to the Pepcid, pantaprazole which is famotidine. I stopped the meds and tingling went away.I also had burning tongue but ent thought it was a vitamin deficiency. Hope this helps. I believe I have a sensitive esophagus because of the acid.I have read about this that People take some type of med to relax nerves called amitriptyline.Haven't tried it.Sometimes I feel a tickle, reactions to hot or certain foods that I must have a sensitivity to. Hard to explain but ppis don’t help. I have to watch what I eat, how much and when…I take reflux gourmet at night or when I start coughing due to going off the diet. I follow Dr . Jamie Koufman diet and Jonathan Aviv on Facebook. Lots of great advice.Good luck.
My mom has burning mouth syndrome. You might want to look that up and see if you have those symptoms.
I discovered that whitener in tooth paste was the cause of burning and irritating tongue/ mouth. I used Sensodyne tooth paste for years. My dentist suggested I try a different toothpaste just to rule it out as a cause. When I stopped using it did resolved. I used Colgate regular toothpaste. Then I started using whitening toothpaste. Symptoms returned in a big way. After ruling out all other possibilities as listed in your comments, I suspected toothpaste again so returned to regular no whitening and now symptom free! I noticed they had added Whitening some years back to Sensodyne toothpaste which started all those symptoms. I hope it maybe as easy a solution as this for you.
I had burning sensation on my tongue and roof of my mouth. I had bloodwork done to check my vitamin b deficiency and it came back fine. She stillI suggested that I take vitamin B complex. I no longer have the sensation. I don’t take any of the medications that you mentioned. It’s worth trying.
Good luck!
As an FYI, should this happen to anyone else, this is a process of elimination, as most things are. I am now trying Biotene, as recommended by my dentist. I am 85% better,so it may be low nutrients. I did have low Ferratin and am taking iron and added other supplements. I go to the ENT next week for her to have a look and will report back, if she has anything enlightening. Thanks to everyone.
I've had a burning mouth and tongue for years. It gets a little better if I brush my teeth, I will ask my doctor about vit. B complex! Thanks.
I wouldn't guess an MRI out of your pocket would be worth it. It's not going to tell you why you have a burning mouth. A gastroenterologist would be a better use of your money. Just a thought.
I have had geographic tongue and burning mouth syndrome for years. Supposedly no cure, take lots of vitamins, mucosal membranes missing so everything with spice or acid stings. Maybe autoimmune disorder but no one seems to know!! Super frustrating….
