This group offers support and information for Mayo Clinic patients undergoing bone marrow transplants, stem cell transplant and CAR-T cell therapy.

Multiple Myeloma - Stem Cell Transplant folks....
Started my stem cell transplant adventure at the Nashville VA Medical Center this week. So far a number of evals; lots of blood work, MUGA, EKG, PET Scan, Pulmonary, etc. The docs, nurses and technicians are absolutely fantastic - even given my pushback on some of the stuff that doesn't make sense. They will take the time to explain it all - so highly encourage all to ask questions. Something surprises me every day - even if it is a procedure/eval that I am very familiar with. There are subtle nuances in how different medical centers execute tests/labs/evaluations.
The next step (tomorrow) is to discuss the lab work/tests/evals with my nurse practioner and doctor - then start the conditioning injections. There are a number of videos and presentations online to educate yourself on the processes/procedures. The collection seems very straightforward and painless.
