After knee replacement surgery
Had left knee replaced 9 days ago. Right knee two years ago. Having a problem with inflammation so hard to bend knee and exercise. Trying to ice and raise knee above heart. Doctor suggested getting compression hose. Anybody have this experience and can offer suggestions. So tired all the time from pain interrupting my sleep and painkillers. My insurance refused to pay for the painkiller recommended by surgeon so have to take one with more opiates. That's frustrating. Two years ago it was covered but now too expensive for me to use. Seems the drug companies, not our doctors are determining what we use.

@gobigorgohome You're already posting! Good to hear from you. I also have vein issues. They are very small and I tell them right up front now to get the pediatric butterfly and someone who is experienced with small adult veins. Wishing you the best, your bilateral friend, Kathy
John. I had muni-lateral yesterday. So I’m still in the hospital today and should be discharged tomorrow. So far, other than a growing amount of pain as the block wears off, I am doing very well. I am up and using the walker to go to the restroom and they’ve had me walking down the halls, not very far, and occupational therapy had me put my shorts and top on etc. so that is going well. I know there’s many tough days ahead but I’m happy that I’m doing Really well according to everyone I’ve talked to so far. Pain is manageable although it is getting worse. Stupidly I was showing off how high I could lift my left leg yesterday and pulled a groin muscle. According to everybody here that is not and then Carmen thing to happen. So, word of advice to those who have not completed their surgery yet, just because you can do it doesn’t meet you should do it. Donna
Hi Donna @gobigorgohome, Really glad to hear it's going well for you. I think that may be the biggest tip is managing the pain first and then working on the exercises. Today is day 14 post op for me and I ventured out with just a cane with my elderly friend who picked me up in his golf cart and we went to lunch downtown...him with his walker in the back and me carrying my cane. ☺
@johnbishop The way your going you,ll be able to throw the cane away
Can't do that @lioness! It's too pretty ☺
@johnbishop That is nice display it when your done using it
I am dismayed. That is 3 too many. Yikes. 4th -John should have been the first. In S C West Had RECENT SCHOOL GRADS in ER! Really painful. Best to find out their experience b4.
That's amazing. At 14 days PO, I could barely make it to my doctor's office to get the zip ties removed. Taking a shower exhausted me. If you are going out to lunch, you are doing great!
I feel very fortunate to not have the pain that others have, not sure why but I think that makes it easier.
@johnbishop Probably the pre op exercises you did but that's good
