A question:
I have 2 recent RTSRs (left in Jan. 23, right in Oct. 23). Both shoulders exhibit what feels like a muscle/tendon rolling off the top of my shoulder, which in-turn feels something like a shoulder dislocation.
I'm just wondering if this is "a thing", which will resolve itself, or if I have something unusual going on in there?
Doc. doesn't seem concerned, but I haven't seen anyone discussing this particular issue.
Joe, in my case,I needed a reverse replacement after I fell and fractured my shoulder in 3 places and the rotator cuff was badly torn. By reversing the position of the humerus head and the socket, the deltoid and bicep takes over for the cuff. I think I got that part right,lol !
My question is "how do you know if you have a good doctor"? I have had 3 shoulder surgeries. This new doctor says I need a reverse shoulder replacement. Others have told me, when the weather gets cold and the titanium gets cold, it is pretty painful. Would you recommend going to the Mayo Clinic for surgery? I have had two different types of surgery in the last 5 years and they did not turn out like they were suppose to . I am a bit nervous.
I had RSR 4 years ago I am now 75 no problems.. the titanium does not get cold that is a false statement 👍🤣 I work with horses and had no problem with lifting a bale of hay or a 50 lb bag of horse feed👍just follow your Doctors orders and do your PT.

Funny you should mention that your reverse replacement was sort of made to fit you. I had mine done 3 months ago and it looks nothing like my normal shoulder.Everything falls off that shoulder and it seems to not have any protective tissue covering it. Therapist says when I build up more muscle that would help,but I am asking the provider tomorrow .when I go for my visit. I am worried about bumping into things but I am sure it is not breakable? Nonna
Good morning @nonnahelen, OOPS! I think you read my post a bit erroneously My message was to let you know that it is now possible to have your mechanism specially made to fit your shoulder. My wasn't and it crackles and pops every time I move. No pain......just a bit annoying.

Chris,I did know what Youwere talking about,but because mine looks so funny,I didn’t know if it was made for me or not! They assured me when the muscle is built up,it will look better.

I thought joint replacement prostheses were made out of titanium. I don't think metal implants pose a problem of metal in the blood unless they rub against each other, and I'm pretty sure that's not the case.
Either way, a good question for the surgeon. My replacements were TKRs and the metal does not touch other metal. Don't know if shoulders are different.
Hi. I had a shoulder replacement surgery back in 2014. I feel like it has a success. I don't have perfect range of motion but the pain is gone. I have a lot of arthritis damage in my elbows so it was hard to do the therapy as well as I should have but it still is a lot better. My surgery was done at MAYO Clinic in Rochester.
So glad to hear you are pain free. I also am facing a rsr in March. The pain is so severe and I also have an elbow that needs replacing on the same arm, but no surgeon wants me to do it as the outcome is tenuous as I have chronic osteoarthritis . I am afraid but have no other option since pain killers don’t cover the pain. I am encouraged however reading some good outcomes. I want an artificial joint used without cobalt, have seen THE BLEEDING EDGE and although it was about hip replacements, the accounts were horrifying.

I’m scheduled for a RSR and am nervous about cobalt being a component of the device. Anyone had problems w cobaltitis?
