Sucralfate

I have Gastroparesis and am on Sucralfate. Can’t tell if it’s helping or making it worse. Any others with the same diagnosis on Sucralfate or told not to take it?

Oh my! That Ph Impedance test sounds rough. What are they looking for? Esophageal issues? I did one of those Barium Swallow tests that looked at my Esophagus, Esophageal Sphincter, and Small Intestine. Mine didn't find anything though, so I suppose my Gerd is all due to the MALS. Wishing you the best. Let me hear from you and how your test goes.

They are looking for why I’m having such severe pain after eating. And even if I haven’t eaten. Also if my esophagus flap isn’t working properly. They will do surgery to repair it to keep it from letting stomach acid back up. The test is not easy. It’s a 24 hour test They place a tube through nose to stomach to esophagus. Kinda makes it hard to eat and even drink. But it’s an important test. I have a celiac plexus block on Friday? Have you had that test yet for your Mals?

Thankyou! They are looking for stomach acid and erosion as well as my esophagus may have a flap not working properly and may need surgery for this. It’s not a fun test but very necessary. I have a celiac plexus block on Friday. Have you had this test yet for Mals? Do you have issues eating? Pain?

Hopefully they can find out what’s going on. I did the test where I had the tube through my nose and it wasn’t too bad.

No, I have not had a Celiac Plexus Block for MALS yet. I do have issues eating and pain. I take 2 medicines from 2- 4 times a day, plus cbd, digestive enzymes, and very restricted diet to help with symptoms. I still have symptoms come through quite a bit even with all of that.

Would you please share the meds you take for Mals? Enzymes? What’s that? Sorry for questions. But any help would be awesome. And I can ask my vascular surgeon.

I was given Dicyclomine first for IBS symptoms, then Sucralfate for severe Gerd. My GI doctor also approved for me to take them for help with MALS and even bumped up my dose on the Dicyclomine since it helps manage the stomach pains. The digestive enzymes I take are otc and to me they are the best for helping break down hard to digest foods. I use Mary Ruth's Digestive Enzymes which are a little pricey , but have helped some. Nothing takes away the symptoms completely, but it is definitely better than without, until I can get surgery.
