Dull Ache 3 Months after Hemicolectomy
Hi everyone,
I had a left hemicolectomy three months ago now as the result of an intestinal volvulus. I have been recovering well, however in the last week I’ve started to sporadically experience a lingering, dull ache on my left side (where I had the hemicolectomy). I woke up a few days ago with intense pain and went to the ER where they said I had a lot of feaces to pass and a slight dilation of the descending colon, but they just sent me away with some pain meds. Ive not been constipated and pass bowel movements every day, however sometimes they are harder to pass. I have had the pain twice more since I went to the er, both times after going to the toilet. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

Hello Omy,
I personally have not experienced the condition you are are currently dealing with. You do describe it as being extremely painful..
Omy, I can relate with you when it comes to pain because I myself was just released from the hospital having suffered through my very first Bowel úpObstruction. I never felt such stomach pain and nausea, in my life!
But who helped me get through my ordeal and will help you with yours, is found in the Bible at John33:24 "And no resident will say: “I am sick.”
I have had four surgeries on my colon. All bowel resections. The first two were to remove a tumor and the. Fix a leak. The third was because of a bowel obstruction and the last due to a perforation. The first year was rough. I felt a constant heaviness in my abdomen. I had other things going on (fistula) that contributed but I just felt uncomfortable. It’s been 4 years and I’m semi normal
