Tymlos side effects I've encountered
Hi. I started Tymlos in February 2022 and about a month after starting it I began experiencing excruciating muscle spasms, esp in upper thighs and feet, neuropathy, as well as debilitating hip, leg, and back pain. My doctor wanted me to try and stay on it for at least a year, but I absolutely could not go on living with the pain I experienced. I stopped taking the Tymlos completely 6 days ago and all my symptoms have subsided. Has anyone else experienced these side effects while on Tymlos?

The needles come separately with your tymlos pen. You'll get 30 needles per month. They attach to the pen by screwing them on. Fresh needle every day. Alsi very detailed instructions to follow. Once you see it it will be easy.
Good luck!
I used Tymlos for 15 months, no side effects for me , did “miracle” , my spine went down from -3-6 to -3.0 but we are all different…as for the needle mine came all separated, needles, pan, and bandages. Changing needles every time. On the first visit I had a nurse from Tymlos team to demonstrate and educate me, got monthly's call from her. I’m VERY surprise by the way they handle you. You should call Tymlos team. Good luck.
Thanks everyone. I will call tymlos as soon as I get the prescription. When I talk to the nurse at Tymlos it is done via zoom so she can show me? I’ve never given myself an injection and want to make sure I do it correctly.
I still have to talk to the doc to make sure I can get the cortisone injection in my hip if I’m on Tymlos. I’m having an issue with the hip I fractured 4 1/2 months ago. Hip is healed. Ortho said it’s either osteoarthritis or the screws.
I too had never given myself an injection and had an appointment with a Tymlos support nurse a few days ago on FaceTime (Zoom was also an option). Very helpful. I did my first injection last evening (half dose to start, thank you, Windy Shores! 😌). Yes, the instructions and illustrations are very clear. Highly recommend the Tymlos support nurse.
Thank you so much! Did it take long to get an appointment with a nurse?
No. After contacting Tymlos online near the end of a week, I got a call the following Monday from a nurse. I chose an appointment the following week, but there may have been one sooner.
Thank you!
I need cortisone shot as well. My endocrinologist advised not to do that because it’s very bad for the bones. My back pain is excruciating and I need something. Didn’t started Tymlos yet. Waiting for pain in my back to subside . Not sure how long I can wait to start Tymlos. Please let me know if you had your cortisone shot after or before you started Tymlos. Thank you.
Tymlos might help your pain- or not. It helped me. Are you sure that a cortisone shot is the best treatment? What is the cause of your back pain?
Endocrinologists get very worried by the slightest steroid exposure but I am not sure if it is a valid worry. Longer term high dose use, yes, definitely a problem.
Can you try lidocaine injections instead? My docs do that. I also see a PT who does manual therapy (massage) and ultrasound.
I have 7 spinal fractures, scoliosis and both cervical and lumbar stenosis, and spinal cord damage in neck. Tai chi has helped me, when I am able.
I don't know the answer about steroid shot before Tymlos and can't think of a reason why you can't. Do you know of one? What does your doctor say? At the same time, I wonder what the root cause of your pain is and if it can be addressed.
I will let you know. I’m going to talk to my rheumatologist and see what he says. I did read something that an occasional injection in the joint may not have the same affect on the bones as taking it orally. I’ll see if I can find it. My appointment for rheumatologist isn’t for a couple weeks.
