I have a total knee replacement tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous. So many people respond immediately with
"The first two weeks are the worst, filled with pain" . Nice of them to share : /
Those of you who've had it, are those first two weeks really so bad?
Thank you for the video with legs raised against wall, super helpful.

Hi. My knees are now 10 and 12 years old. And I had it back when they used the passive motion machine so that made it easy, but if you can get to a gym and sit on a stationary bike, and adjust the seat (low) so when you peddle is stretches (bends) the knee a wee bit, then keep lowing the seat as you can. That works as your passive machine. Do it several times a day if you can. for 10-15 minutes at a time. I ended up with 132 degrees of bend, !!!!!!!! , and walked without pain almost from the start. Best wishes. @gailfaith

Well we should never lie to anyone about the pain. It aint no picnic. BUT, mine was a completely different pain. It was from the actual surgery and you have to remember, that does get well. Good luck ronnie3716. You'll be on your feet again soon.

Dont worry I dont know if you believe in God . If you do just put yourself
in his hands and ask him to be with you during this ntime and help you. Do
whatever the Dr. tells you and it will be fine. Best wishes and hope you
can tell us how it went.
Hi, I had total knee replacement 8 months ago. Then again 4 weeks ago. The first time around pain and swelling making exercise and moving very difficult. Ended going to PT for several weeks. As for pain after, just some small discomfort but nothing I would call terrible. this time around, minimal swelling and as far and walking and getting around weeks ahead from where I was last time. So I think it is just different for all of us.

So happy for you! Did the same surgeon preform your 2nd Surgery ? Were you given any reason for the difference in outcome?
I will be having a revision (replacement) 2 1/2 years after 1st replacement. In the next few months.

That's great .... it's interesting because when I had my RTKR done it hurt right from the get-go. But, when about 1-2 years later he did a revision on the same knee .... I think it's better than it's been for many years.

The only thing I could think of was that I did fall on my kitchen floor about 2 weeks after getting home from Rehab. Now whether that loosened it or not, who knows. But, the revision has worked out beautifully! I could not be more pleased. And, yes, my same Surgeon did the revision. He's an excellent surgeon in that area and I felt total confidence in him.

I am in my 6th-7th week after bilateral total knee surgery.I found the first 2 weeks far better than other weeks cause the anaesthetic drugs aren't worn off yet and whilst in hospital they consistently dose you up pretty good. After rehab and when home I hate it. They gave taken me off tablets too soon I feel , sleepless nights nausea, etc I am at 112 both knees though and physio is going good

Just take your pain killers
