Zero Results Tymlos

I got ZERO results with Tymlos. I was never advised to get a scan after a year to measure response to the drug. I wasted time and money. Be careful who you go to.

That’s concerning. I’ve been so obsessed about potential side effects of starting Tymlos that I haven’t really considered that it might not work. May I ask if you know this from a follow up dexa? Where did your T scores start and what are they now? Any slowing or stabilization at all?!

REPLY

@kinglor did you do a medication before Tymlos that might interfere?

Even if bone density didn't improve, did it stay stable? Were your scores severe?

It is possible that bone quality improved. I hope so !

Tymlos was the only one that helped me. Within 15 months My spine went from -3.7 to -3.0, hips went down to -2.7. I should have continued all the way to 18-20 months but unfortunately price went to $1000 a month....we all react differently, I took 2 rounds of Prolia, I felt I was going backwards, so I started RECLAST I thought I would die.... NEVER AGAIN!...Search BONE COACH ... great info.

I’m sorry you didn’t get the expected results. I guess every person reacts differently.
After only 7 months of treatment, even though I never got to the recommended dose of 80 mcg. per day (I could only do 60 mcg.), my spine T scores went from -4.3 to -3.4 and my hip went from -3.2 to -2.9.
And when I started treatment it had been almost a year since I had the DEXA, so it was probably worse when I finally started on Tymlos. I haven’t had any new fractures. For me, the side effects have definitely been worth it.

Also, a DEXA is a better measure of bone density, because a scan can also “light up” for many other reasons, like inflammation, fractures, etc.

You are so right...we all react differently. Good luck to all of us. Thinking of try BONE COACH Program ... No meds. Holistic program.

Was your latest DXA scan done on the same machine as the previous one?
If no, maybe that's the reason for results showing no change? (DXA's need to be performed on same machine to provide apples-to-apples comparison.)
If yes, ask for both of your DXA results to be reviewed again, in case you were not properly positioned on the machine, radiologist read scan incorrectly, etc.? Keith McCormick's "Great Bones" book and Lani Simpson's book go into detail about these and other DXA errors.

Also, don't assume its the same dexa machine. Check the serial number on your dexa reports to ensure it's the same machine. This happened to me when my numbers were off, different machines. Other key things to look at are, your position on the table, when the machine was last calibrated and education of the technician that did the dexa.
